Men's Soccer Signs Three More to National Letters of Intent

April 15, 2004

Siena College men's soccer head coach Charlie Curto has announced the signings of three more high school seniors to national letters of intent for the 2004 season. Danny Majewski (Staten Island, N.Y.), Adam Comiskey (Castleton, N.Y.) and Jason Laffin (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) will join fellow newcomers Thomas Ciovacco (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) and Liam Welsh (Westtown, N.Y.) on the Siena men's squad this fall.

"We are thrilled about the addition of Danny, Adam and Jason to our incoming freshman class," said Curto. "Add Thomas and Liam into the mix and the five should combine for a very talented and powerful rookie group."

Majewski is a keeper out of a Monsignor Farrell High School. His high school team captured the Staten Island High School League and Catholic Championship and Archdiocesan A Division Championship four times. He is a Super-Y player that has played with several teams including the Silver Lake Spirits, the former GJOA, the Brooklyn Patriots, and most recently, the Brooklyn United.

"Danny is a big, strong and quick keeper," Curto said. "A highly recruited player and one of the top goalies to come out of the Long Island area, we feel very fortunate to have him with us and are looking for him to do great things here at Siena."

Comiskey, a defender/midfielder from Columbia High School, is a three-year varsity starter and four-year varsity letter winner for a team that won the Class A Championship this past year. He has played for several club teams including the FC Greenbush Gladiators Premier squad and the Blackwatch Royals Premier team of the Y-League. A member of the 2003 Scholastic Empire State Soccer team, Comiskey is also very active in the classroom, earning National Honor Society recognition and being named to the National Society of High School Scholars while also earning representation in Who's Who Among American High School Students.

"Adam is one of the local players who we felt still has his best soccer in front of him and has the potential to play even better at the college level," said Curto. "He is a hard tackler that has good vision and should contribute right away."

Laffin is a midfielder from Our Lady of Lourdes High School. A senior captain who led his team to a Conference II-League A Championship, he was twice named All-League and All-Section. As a junior he was honored as a Poughkeepsie Journal All-Star First Team selection while leading his team in points. Laffin also captained the Hudson Valley New York Empire State Team that earned a Bronze Medal in 2002 and a Silver in 2003, was a four-year captain of his East Hudson Select Team and has played on the club teams of FC Westchester '87 and the Wappinger Falcons four-time Eastern New York State Cup Champion squad. A Dean's List recipient and National Honor Society Member, he has earned such merits as the Poughkeepsie Elks Night of Champions award, the Pepsi Sports Spotlight Athlete award and four Scholar Athlete Awards.

"Jason is a strong midfielder with tremendous vision," Curto said. "We expect him to step right in to the mix and make an immediate impact."

The Saints finished the 2003 season 6-12-1 (5-3-1 MAAC) after falling 3-0 to the number five seed, Marist College, in the quarterfinals of the MAAC Tournament.
