Men's Soccer Battle Ends In 1-0 Loss To Fairfield

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena (3-13-2, 1-6-2) rode the emotional high from Senior Day and gave Fairfield all it could handle in a defensive battle of wills but in the end came up on the short end of a 1-0 score at Siena Field this afternoon in the season finale. The Saints managed to get off two shots in the first half while Fairfield was held without a shot. The Stags turned the stat around after intermission outshooting Siena 4-1. In all, each team fired only a single shot on goal in the game. The lone goal came with just over 10 minutes showing on the clock. Fairfield's Vasilis Androutsos cleared a ball over the Saints defense creating a breakaway opportunity. Kerr McLeod squeaked a shot past freshman Eric Rosse (Malta, N.Y.) and into the left corner of the goal to break the scoreless tie. The Green and Gold honored all nine seniors in pre-game festivities. The seniors included Matt Walsh (Northport, N.Y.), Mike Coyle (Fishkill, N.Y.), Chris Turcio (LaGrangeville, N.Y.), Chris Crescitelli (Merrick, N.Y.), Kris Dillman (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), Sean Kelly (Red Hook, N.Y.), Caio Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil), T.J. Helly (Carmel, N.Y.), and Alejandro Vazquez (Newburgh, N.Y.).
