Loudonville, N.Y. - Men's soccer topped Marist 2-0 this afternoon on Siena Field. Senior Michael Battiste (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) posted the game winning goal in the 6th minute. Forward Thomas Ciovacco (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) added an insurance goal later in the first half to secure the victory. Today, the Saints celebrated Senior Day in honor of four graduating seniors: Patrick Henry (LaGrangeville, N.Y./Arlington), Kris Dillmann (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./John Jay), Delmiro Fernandez (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) and Battiste.

The Saints took the lead early in the first half when Battiste sent a header past Marist goalkeeper Michael Danya at 5:55. This marked Battiste's first goal of the season. Ciovacco added the Saints second goal in the 43rd minute. Freshman Robert DiFilippo (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) sent a fed in the box from the right side to Ciovacco who headed it into the back of the net. Ciovacco has recorded four goals on the season.

The Red Foxes battled for a goal in the second half. With less than 15 minutes to play, midfielder Vinny Cacioppo sent a direct kick around the Siena defense, only to be stopped by the diving Henry. Henry registered his third shutout of the season posting three saves. Danya accumulated five saves on the day.

The Saints complete their 2006 campaign 3-13-2 overall and 2-6-1 in league play. The Red Foxes fall to 6-9-1 on the year.
