Colgate Takes Men's Soccer, 1-0

Oct. 15, 2003

Box Score

Colgate University's Reed Grimes scored the only goal of the game to give the Raider the non-conference victory over Siena College at Siena Field on a very windy afternoon of Division I soccer. With the win Colgate improved to 3-6-3 overall while the Saints fell to 3-8-1 on the season and remained 2-1-1 in the MAAC after suffering the loss.

The game was an even match-up as both teams recorded nine shots.

After a scoreless first half, Grimes put away the gamewinner at the 76:50 mark as he took a cross from Zach Stuppy off his head, sending the ball into the upper right hand corner of the cage. The goal with a little over 13 minutes to play proved to be all the Raiders needed to walk away with their third victory of the season.

Siena keeper Patrick Henry made three saves in the cage for the Saints while Will Martin had one stop for the Raiders.

Siena will next be in action this Saturday as they travel to Marist College to resume MAAC play. Game-time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
