Men's Soccer Falls On Road To Binghamton 3-1

Oct. 11, 2005

Final Stats

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena (2-8-0) was playing from behind and lost 3-1 to Binghamton (9-3-1) in non-conference action this afternoon.

Trailing 2-0 with 12 minutes left in the first half, sophomore's Jason Laffin (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and Thomas Ciovacco (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) teamed up and put the Saints on the scoreboard. From the deep left flank, Laffin fired a centering pass by Binghamton's goalie finding Ciovacco. He rattled off a one-timer cutting the deficit in half, 2-1. The goal was the second of the season for Ciovacco and Laffin's second assist makes him the team leader.

Junior Patrick Henry (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) was under attack by the Binghamton offense all game making five saves between the pipes for Siena.

Joey Neilson of Binghamton proved to be a thorn in the side for the Saints. Neilson scored the second goal of the game 20 minutes into action and assisted on the insurance goal in the second half.

Siena managed to put four of their five shots on goal with goalie Ryan Bertoni making three saves.

The Saints look for a little home cooking to help end the current streak of six straight losses as Siena embarks on a two game homestand this weekend. The Green and Gold will host MAAC rival Rider on Friday, Oct. 14, at 3 p.m. followed by a Sunday match against Loyola with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
