Defensive Battle For Men's Soccer Ends In 1-0 Loss To Lafayette
Oct. 4, 2005
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The men's soccer team (2-6-0) found themselves in familiar surroundings locked in another battle of the defenses and dropped their third straight game as Lafayette (7-3) made the most of their lone goal to hold on for a 1-0 win this evening. Goalie Patrick Henry (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) did his best to keep the game Lafayette off the scoreboard hoping for a Saints goal, he made three first half saves and didn't see a single shot on goal until 10 minutes remained on the clock. At the 80th minute, Ori Kalmus found a hole and squeaked his third goal of the season past Henry. The Saints fired off seven shots in all compared to Lafayette's 12. Mike DeSimone (Clifton Park, N.Y.) accounted for a team-high two shots. Four yellow cards were issued in the game, two apiece for each school. Siena was whistled for 14 fouls compared to Lafayette's seven. The Saints continue their season-long four game road trip with games against MAAC foes St. Peter's and Manhattan before wrapping up the swing with a non-conference meeting with Binghamton. Siena next returns home on October 14 for a league game against Rider.
