Siena Men's Soccer Drops Defensive Battle In Overtime To Colgate 1-0
Sept. 25, 2005
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena men's soccer team (2-3-0) was locked in a defensive struggle with the Colgate Raiders (4-2-2) in an overtime 1-0 loss at a cloudy Siena Field this afternoon. The Green and Gold had a scoring opportunity in the last minutes of regulation but a foot-race between Ross Cardinell (Loudonville, N.Y.) and Raider goalie Doug Litvack went Colgate's way. Siena spent a great majority of the game in the offensive zone applying pressure on the opposition's defensive front. The Saints, though dominating time of possession, fired off seven shots in the game with four of them coming on goal. Siena's lone shot on goal in the overtime session came off the foot of Sean Kelly (Red Hook, N.Y.) and found its way into the hands of the Raiders goalie. The winning goal came at the 93:25 mark when Eric Anton executed a flying header that found its way over the outstretched arms of Patrick Henry (LaGrangeville, N.Y.). Siena is now has a 2-1 home record and will head out on the road for a matchup against Vermont on September 28. The Saints return to Siena Field October 1 as they host UMass with a 1 p.m. start time.
