Men's Soccer Falls Short at Fordham, 3-2
Sept. 16, 2005
BRONX, N.Y. -- Sophomore Kevin Meyer scored his first collegiate goal off a cross from Omero Rozen to break a 2-2 tie with just over 16 minutes left in the game to lead Fordham University (2-1-2) to a 3-2 win over Siena College (1-2-0) on Jack Coffey Field. Rozen raced in on the left side and sent a cross to Meyer on the far side of the box which Meyer one-timed past Siena junior keeper Patrick Henry (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) to pick up his first goal. The Rams jumped out to a 2-0 lead just under 19 minutes into the game on goals from Anthony Akande and Rozen. Akande got the Rams on the board in the 16th minute when he one-timed a pass from Brian Glennon from 15-yards out for his second goal of the year. Just over three minutes later, a Meyer shot was deflected in front to a wide open Rozen who easily found the back of the net giving the Rams a 2-0 advantage. Senior midfielder, Kris Dillmann (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) made it a one-goal game for Siena, pouncing on a loose ball 20 yards out and beating Fordham keeper Stephen Faber on the ground in the 31st minute. Dillman then tied the game in the second half for the Saints as he picked up a loose ball off a Siena corner kick and drilled a shot past Faber from 20 yards in the 56th minute. Henry made nine saves in net for the Saints while Faber recorded four saves for the Rams who outshot Siena 13-8. The Saints will next be in action on Wednesday, September 21st as they host cross-town rival UAlbany at 4 p.m.
