Men's Soccer Falls to Drexel 2-1

PHILADELPHIA, P.A. - Liam Welsh (West Town, N.Y./Minisink Vally) posted a goal with 89:23 to send the contest into overtime at Drexel University. The Dragons responded in the 96th minute with a game winning goal by freshman Fabio Assumpcao.

The contest remained scoreless through the 85th minute before sophomore Mike Crosse put Drexel ahead with a chip shot assisted by Dominick Balsamo. Siena rallied back with in the last minute of action when Anthony Tagliaferri (West Sayville, N.Y./Saint John the Baptist) blasted a shot that was deflected by diving goalie Cory Robertson, and then rebounded by Welsh, who found the back of the net.

Assumpcao scored the game winning goal on a free kick with 95:35 on the clock.

Captain Patrick Henry accumulated five saves on the night in his first start for the Saints this season. Robertson posted three saves in a winning effort for the Dragons.

The Saints fall to 0-1-1 and travel to Amherst, M.A. Friday afternoon to face the University of Massachusetts at 4 p.m.
