Kingston, R.I. - In the first game of the URI Tournament, Quinnipiac defeated Siena, 3-0. Quinnipiac opened the scoring when freshman Alex deFaria started a breakaway up the middle and fellow freshman Dominic Popolozio put the pass into the net for the 1-0 lead at the 43:13 mark. Junior Everson Maciel gave the Braves a 2-0 lead when he connected on a pass from junior Paul Dworak at 84:49. Maciel notched his second goal of the game less than a minute later on a shot from 65-yards out that found the back of the net at 85:40.

Junior Kevin Kelly was outstanding in goal for Quinnipiac, making five saves in the shutout while sophomore Ryan Jordan had five saves for Siena.

Rhode Island, now 1-0 for the season, will host Siena in the final game of the URI/Wakefield Mall Classic on Monday, Sept. 3 at 2:00 p.m. while Quinnipiac faces off against Maine on Monday at 12:00
