Aidan Byrne is entering his first year as an assistant coach at Siena. He arrives from Mount Ida College where he was an assistant coach for six years. Over that period, he helped the team to two NAC Championships and the school's first ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.

"I am excited to have Aidan join our new staff," said Elliott. "As a previous teammate, I know he has the knowledge, passion and work ethic required to be successful at the Division I level."

Byrne will be responsible for working with the defensive unit, match day analysis and working on the improvement of the team's strength and conditioning.

As a player, Byrne played at Mount Ida as a freshman and sophomore from 1995-97 before transferring to the University of Rhode Island for his junior and senior years. As a Mustang he was named to the All-New England team in 1995 and 1996 and was named to the First Team All-America in 1996. As a Ram he earned a place on the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team. He then played professionally for the Rhode Island Stingrays in 1999-2000.

Byrne owns his own fitness business and his wife Jennifer is a former URI volleyball player.
