Siena Men's Lacrosse Introduces Class of 2012

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena men’s lacrosse program adds 12 newcomers to the 2009 roster announced head coach Brian Brecht. The recruiting class includes 11 freshmen and one junior transfer. “This class from top to bottom has a chance to raise the bar of Siena lacrosse,” said Brecht. “With 18 seniors it will be exciting to see the leadership passed down to this group both on and off the field and to see our program grow alongside them.” The class is headlined by junior transfer Bryan Renneissen (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) from Nassau Community College. At Nassau CC he played in two National Championships, winning one title and was named Final Four MVP. He also garnered Second Team All-American and All-Region honors last season. The freshman class includes six players from Long Island. Chris Brancato (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) lettered two years in high school. Chris Roth (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) was named All-Division as a junior and All-County as a senior. Chris D’Alberti (Northport, N.Y./Northport) lettered three years at midfield and was named All-County and All-Division as a junior and senior. Jack Lang (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) was an All-County honorable mention as a junior and senior and won Defensive MVP in the Nassau County Senior All-Star game. Ken Wright (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) played four years in high school and his team won three Nassau County Class ‘B’ Championships. Frank Auletti (Deer Park, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) is the only goalie in the 2009 recruiting class. Auletti started four years in the cage in high school earning Goalie of the Year as a sophomore and was a part of two Class ‘A’ Championships.
Three freshmen arrive from New England. Pat Daley (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Guertin) was a three-year starter who attained All-State and All-American status in high school. Phil Dumont (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) lettered three years and won Defensive MVP as a junior and senior. Derek Favara (Newfields, N.H./Exeter) was an All-American and won New Hampshire Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. Bryan Neufeld (Virgil, Ontario/Niagara District) and Evan Gallina (Rochester, N.Y./Bridgeton Academy) round out the incoming freshmen. Neufeld played four years in high school and was named Male Athlete of the Year as a senior. Gallina started five years and earned All-Greater Rochester honorable mention as a junior and senior. Siena opens the 2009 season at tradition rich Johns Hopkins on February 21. |
