LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Junior Brendan Finneran will receive two awards this week. On Tuesday he will receive the ECAC Award of Valor in Hyannis, Mass. and on Thursday he will receive the Fighting Spirit Award at the fourth annual Coaches vs. Cancer Basket Ball at the Egg in Albany.

Finneran returned to the lacrosse field last fall after surviving bone cancer.

Finneran is one of five Award of Valor recipients. Established in 1985, the ECAC Award of Valor honors ECAC athletes whose courage, motivation, and relentless determination serves as an inspiration to all. The recipients exemplify strength of character and perseverance deserving recognition as being truly triumphant.

Finneran is one of three honorees at the Basket Ball. University of Pittsburgh Head Coach Jamie Dixon will receive the Inspiration Award and John Lowery will receive the Fan of the Year award.
