April 28-29, 2001

ORLANDO, Fla.--The Siena women's golf team captured its first ever MAAC Championship this past weekend at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.

Sophomore Stephanie Reeves (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenedehowa) shot a two-day total of 158 (78-80) to capture the McLeod Award for top finisher.

The Saints team total of 696 was just two shots better than Fairfield University total of 298. The Saints and Stags are the only two teams who field women's golf teams in the two-year-old MAAC women's golf conference. Last season Farfield topped Siena by over 100 strokes.

The Siena men finished in sixth place after entering the final day of competition in a three-way tie for first place. Sophomore Luke Esposito (Fayetteville, N.Y./CBA) was Siena's top finisher, placing in ninth place overall. Esposito's two-day total was 155 (76-79).
