Men's Golf Announces the Addition of Two Signees
July 13, 2005 LOUDONVILLE, NY- Siena College men's golf head coach Tom Wronowski announced that Daniel Abbondandolo (Oyster Bay Cove, NY) and Dennis Gosier (Gansevoort, NY) have each signed national-letters-of-intent to play at Siena starting in the fall of the 2005-06 season. Abbondandolo, a four-year letterwinner at St. Dominic High School, comes to Siena with impressive credentials. He is a four-time all-area selection and was named to the Athletic Association All-Academic Team. The two-sport athlete lettered in soccer and served as captain during his junior year. For two consecutive seasons he was awarded the team's MVP honor and received the Spirit Award his freshman year. Last season, Abbondandolo finished in sixth place at the International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) out of 54 golfers. Prior to that in 2003 he earned a three-way second place tie at the IJGT. As the only incoming freshman, Dan has competed on both levels with consistent top five finishes. "I would not be surprised if Dan played his way into the first playing group immediately," said Wronowski. "I would expect him to help us make yet another jump up the NCAA rankings and compete for a MAAC Championship." Gosier, a native of Gansevoort, NY began golfing at Saratoga High School where he captured the 1998 New York State Boys Champion title, and two years later, the New York State Junior Champion title. A transfer from James Madison University, Gosier's best outing was at the 2003 Georgetown Invitational where he finished 4th and 5th at the St. John's Invitational. He also competed at the University of Tennessee's Coca Cola Tournament of Champions for 35th place. "We are very excited about having Dennis join the program," said Wronowski. "He brings two years of Division I golf experience that will be invaluable to our very young team. We expect Dennis to make an immediate impact on the team."
