The Siena men's golf team was awarded the #26 seed in the Central Regional during the annual NCAA selection call late Monday afternoon. The Saints will join 26 other schools in the Regional which will take place May 17-19 at Rich harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.

A total of 81 teams were selected to play at the three regional sites. Siena earned an automatic bid to the Tournament by virtue of its second consecutive MAAC title, captured April 29 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Last season, Siena was the #25 seed in the Central Regional at Sand Ridge Golf Club in Cleveland.

"This is a benchmark accomplishment for our program," head coach Tom Wronowski said. "Last year our kids got a taste of what NCAA Tournament play is all about, and I think we enter this year's Championship more seasoned and more confident."

The top-10 teams in each of the three regions (East-Alpharetta, Ga. and West-Tempe, Ariz.) will move on to the national finals which will be conducted May 30-June 2 at the Gold Course at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Virginia. Virginia Commonwealth University is the host institution for this year's championships.

Siena is led by senior Bryan Bigley, the two-time Siena College Albany Times Union Male Student Athlete of the Year. Bigley tied for the low individual score at this year's MAAC Championships The men's golf team joins volleyball as the only other Siena team to advance to the NCAA Tournament this season. Women's golf also won the MAAC Championship, defeating Fairfield, but the MAAC does not have an automatic bid to the NCAA's.
