Men's and Women's Golf Named to the MAAC All-Academic Team
April 25, 2005 EDISON, NJ -Eight student-athletes from the Siena men's and women's golf team were named to the 2005 MAAC Men's and Women's Golf All-Academic Team, the conference office announced recently. On the men's side, seniors Brad Myatt (Oneida, NY) and Jeremy Youngs (Boonville, NY) and brothers Bryan Bigley (Rotterdam, NY) and Robby Bigley (Rotterdam, NY) and for the women, junior Jillian Blanchard (North Dartmouth, MA) and sophomores Megan Angis (Saco, ME), Samantha Rossi (Schenectady, NY) and Laura Woolgar (Pearl River, NY) were named to the All-Academic Team for their contributions in the classroom. To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at his or her institution, be a significant starter or reserve, and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. The men's golf team finished second at the jetBlue Airways MAAC Golf Championship on Sunday, falling six strokes to Loyola College while the women's team claimed their fifth consecutive crown. Bryan Bigley and Melissa Agostinelli (Rochester, NY) received the McLeod award, which is presented to the MAAC individual champion. Bigley set a tournament record firing a 211 and Agostinelli finished with a score of 241 after three rounds. Siena led all schools with eight student-athletes, 30 were named.
