Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena Men's Golf team had their best round of the fall, shooting a team score of 287 on Saturday to come from behind to win the Hofstra Invitational at the Bethpage State Park Red Course in Farmingdale, N.Y. Junior co-captain Dan Abbondandolo (Oyster Bay Cove, N.Y./St. Dominic) continued his fall dominance by defeating Fordham's Nico Mazono on the first playoff hole to nab his second straight individual title.

Entering the final round in third place and three shots behind then leader Delaware, the Saints used a pair of 69's from Abbondandolo and freshman phenom Don DeNyse III (Albany, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) to quickly make up the deficit and hold off eventual second place finisher Bucknell by three strokes.

Abbondandolo, who in his most recent competition also shot a career best round of 69 on the final day to win the Cornell Invitational individual crown, had his best two rounds of golf yet with a combined two day score of 140 (71-69). DeNyse meanwhile rebounded from an up and down first round to finish the weekend fourth overall individually (75-69-144).

Senior co-captain Chris Haggerty (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) also had a solid showing rounding out the Saints top three as he finished in a tie for 14th overall (76-74-150)

Following their thrilling first victory of the fall, the Saints will conclude the 2007 fall season next weekend at the Lehigh Invitational. First round play in Saucon Valley, Pa. gets underway Saturday morning.
