Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena Men's Golf team had an impressive showing Friday at the First Round of the Hofstra Invitational at the Bethpage State Park Red Course in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Saints stand in third following Friday's team round of 301 and head into Saturday's final round a mere one shot back of second place Bucknell and only three strokes behind the clubhouse leader Delaware.

Junior co-captain Dan Abbondandolo (Oyster Bay Cove, N.Y./St. Dominic) leads all Siena competitors following a first round score of 72 (+2), placing him in a tie for third individually. Abbondandolo, who in his last tournament won the individual title at the Cornell Invitational, enters Saturday's final round only two shots back of the overall leader Jeff Griest of Delaware who finished with an even par 70 on Friday.

Freshman Don DeNyse III (Albany, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) also had a strong showing, finishing tied for sixth after Friday's action (+5), while senior co-captain Chris Haggerty (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) rounded out the Siena leader board finishing in a tie for tenth individually (+6).

The final day of competition gets underway Saturday morning.
