Siena Men's Golf 12th at ECAC Championships

Oct. 10, 2008

The Siena men's golf team completed the first two rounds of the 2008 ECAC Division I Men's Golf Championships in 12th place this afternoon at the Long Island National Golf Course in Riverhead, N.Y. Sophomore Don DeNyse III represented the top Siena competitor after Day One, finishing with a strong second round score of 74.

Yale (591) is the clubhouse leader through 36 holes, with Bucknell (598) a close second. The Saints (641) stand 12th in the 15 team field.

Siena got off to a strong start, but following a first round team-high score of 77, senior co-captain Dan Abbondandolo withdrew. DeNyse picked up the slack with his strong second round to finish the 36 holes with a team-leading score of 156.

Nick Miller (163), Jeff Smith (164) and co-captain James Gifford (165) rounded out the Siena contingent.

The Saints tee off for tomorrow's third and final round at 11 a.m.
