Sept. 24, 2007

Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena Men's Golf team concluded their first fall tournament of the season by placing eighth in the fourteen team field at the Leo Keenan Invitational hosted by St. Bonaventure University.

Junior Dan Abbondandolo (Oyster Bay Cove, N.Y./St. Dominic) led the Siena contingent on both days, placing eighth overall individually in the invitational. Abbondandolo shot a team best 70 in Monday's final round.

In addition to Abbondandolo, newcomer Don DeNyse III (Albany, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) had an equally impressive first showing for the Saints. After a rough first day, DeNyse shot a stellar 71 on the final day of the tournament, placing him second amongst Siena competitors and nineteenth overall.

Host school St. Bonaventure won their invitational, finishing a mere five strokes better than second place Duquesne in what turned out to be a tightly contested tournament.

The Saints will be back in action again this weekend for the Cornell Invitational which will take place Saturday and Sunday in Ithaca.
