Ubiles Unwraps MAAC Player of the Week Award

Dec. 24, 2007

Siena swingman Edwin Ubiles was named MAAC Player of the week today after helping the Saints to their third straight win Saturday at Times Union Center.

Ubiles scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Siena past previously once-beaten Holy Cross Saturday. He made 11-13 field goals and 6-8 free throws, scoring 22 of his 29 points in the second half and overtime. Ubiles added two assists and made his only 3-point attempt in 41 minutes of action.

It was Ubiles' third 20+ point effort of the season. He has reached double figures in all nine games. Ubiles is second on the team with 17.7 points per game and shooting 54% from the floor on the season.

Ubiles and the Saints will try to run their home winning streak to 10 games when they return to action Friday night against Atlantic 10 power St. Joseph's.
