Ronald Moore Named One of 31 Finalists for Bob Cousy Award

Nov. 11, 2008

Bob Cousy Award Finalists

Siena junior Ronald Moore has been selected as one of just 31 national finalists for The Bob Cousy Award presented by The Hartford and given to the top collegiate male basketball point guard annually spanning across all divisions within the game by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Moore is the only MAAC player on the list, which also includes the starting point guard from Siena's first two opponents: Boise State's Anthony Thomas and Cornell's Louis Dale.

Moore has averaged 5.1 assists and just 2.2 turnovers per game during his first two years as a Saint. He has led Siena to a 43-23 record in his two years as the Saints' starting point guard and helped orchestrate last year's MAAC Championship and First Round NCAA Tournament win. Moore is averaging eight points per game over his two year career and has started 60 of the 66 games he has appeared in.

The selection criteria for The Bob Cousy Award emphasize leadership, team work, success, and fundamentals as being critical parts for the game of basketball as a point guard. Nominations are solicited from across the country from head coaches and the winner is selected by a Blue Ribbon Selection Committee made up of the biggest names in college basketball. Nominations for the 2009 award are being collected. Coaches from across the country will be nominating the top point guards in America.
