MAAC Releases Men's Basketball Schedule

Complete 2008-2009 Sinea Men's Basketball Schedule The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference released its 2008-2009 men's basketball schedules Thursday evening. News of the announcement marked the completion of Siena's 30-game regular-season slate. The Saints received three MAAC TV games, two of which will be played on ESPNU (vs. Rider on Jan. 9 and at Niagara on Feb. 27). Four of Siena's nine home leagues games will take place on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The MAAC season opens when Siena and Loyola square off in Baltimore on Wednesday, December 3. Siena's regular-season concludes with its annual Western New York swing. The Saints play at Niagara on Friday February 27 and at Canisius on Sunday, March 1. The Saints released their non-conference schedule earlier this summer. The team opens its season with home games against 2008 NCAA Tournament participants Boise State (11/17) and Cornell (11/22) before traveling to Disney World to partake in the preeminent preseason event of the year, the 2008 Old Spice Classic. Siena and SEC Champ Tennessee meet on ESPN2 in the opening round at noon on Thanksgiving Day (11/27). Other non-conference games include a contest at National Champion Kansas (1/ 6), a date at nationally ranked Pitt (12/17) and road games against perennial Northeast powers Saint Joseph's (12/28) and Holy Cross (12/30). Siena also hosts state rivals UAlbany (12/6) and Buffalo (12/23) as well as an ESPNU BracketBusters weekend (2/21) game against a yet-to-be-determined opponent. The MAAC Tournament returns to Times Union Center March 6-9.
