Hasbrouck, Ubiles and Franklin Named to All-MAAC Teams

March 3, 2008

Kenny Hasbrouck and Edwin Ubiles were named to the MAAC First Team today and Alex Franklin received recognition on the conference's Second Team. It marks the first time since 1992-93 - when the MAAC had just eight teams - that the Saints have had two representatives on the First Team Hasbrouck and Ubiles joined Loyola's Gerald Brown, Rider's Jason Thompson and Niagara's Charron Fisher on the First Team.

Hasbrouck averaged 15.7 points and a MAAC-best 2.3 steals for the 19-10 Saints. He shot 44% from the field and 40% from 3-point range. Hasbrouck was second on the team with 2.2 assists per game.

Ubiles led the Saints with 17.7 points per game. The sophomore swing man shot 54% from the field and 46% from 3-point range. Ubiles enters the Tournament red-hot, having averaged over 25 points during the final five games of the regular-season.

Franklin was joined on the MAAC Second Team by Rider's Ryan Thompson, Fairfield guard Jonathan Han, Niagara guard Tyrone Lewis and Saint Peter's forward Todd Sowell.

Franklin was named MAAC Player of the Week three times this season. He ended the regular-season averaging 14.7 points and eight rebounds while shooting 57% from the field. Franklin posted nine double-doubles in 24 games played this season.

Doremus Bennerman and Lee Mathews were named to the MAAC First Team in 1992-93 marking the only other time Siena has placed two players on the top team in its 19 years in the league. No school has had two players on the MAAC First Team, since Iona did it in 1997-98 - the first year the league expanded to 10 teams.

Siena is the #1 seed in the upcoming MAAC Tournament after earning a share of the league's regular-season title for the fifth time. The Saints will take on the winner of the first round game between #8 Manhattan and #9 Saint Peter's Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Times Union Center.
