Professional scout Jim Howard '84 was presented the Jim Russo Scout of the Year Award, named in honor of the man who spent 33 years in various scouting capacities with the Orioles beginning with their move from St. Louis in 1954.

Howard has been a scout with the Orioles since 1988 and was responsible for the signing of former Orioles LHP Erik Bedard, current Orioles RHP Jim Johnson, and Orioles minor league pitchers Jim Hoey and Patrick Egan. He is a 1984 graduate of Siena College and was inducted into the school's Sports Hall of Fame in 1991.
