Razorbacks Sweep Saints, 10-4

March 9, 2008

Final Stats

Loudonville, N.Y. - Aaron Murphree and Casey Coon knocked in three runs a piece as SEC power Arkansas (11-1) swept their three games series with the Saints (1-9) this afternoon in front of a crowd of 7,240 at Baum Stadium in Fayetteville, Ark. Siena drew seven walks and had numerous men on base throughout but could not cash in stranding nine men on base.

The Saints jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first. Shortstop Chris Klepps doubled with one out and advanced to third on a passed ball before scoring on a Jacob Willis single to left.

The lead was short lived however as the Razorbacks retaliated with three runs in the bottom of the inning, capped off by a Murphree three run homer. It was Murphree's fifth dinger of the series and twelfth in the first twelve games of the season.

Arkansas added a run in the second and four more insurance runs in the fourth to build an 8-1 lead early on. The Razorbacks made it ten unanswered runs and harbored a 10-1 lead entering the eighth.

In the Saints' half of the inning, Siena loaded the bases with nobody out. Nick Messinger was then hit by a pitch to bring home the first run which was followed by a Don DiPetta sacrifice fly for the second run of the frame. The Saints would add one more run in the inning, scoring on a wild pitch, but could get no closer.

Siena continues their season opening thirteen game road swing on Saturday with a doubleheader against Central Florida. First pitches are slated for 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. respectively from Orlando.
