Siena Sisters Race to All-MAAC Cross Country Roster

Loudonville, NY- The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference recently announced their All-MAAC Women's Cross Country team selections that included two Siena runners. Saintly sister act, twins Michelle and Kim Milton (Webster, N.Y.), both appear on the 2001 First Team All MAAC roster.

This weekend in the Conference Championship held at Manhattan's Van Cortland Park, the sophomore sisters each placed in the top-10. Michelle placed fourth in the conference with a time of 19:10 while Kim finished in the seven slot in 19:23. The Siena women finished fifth overall in the final conference standings.

The Siena squad also added eight to the MAAC All-Academic Cross Country Team. Recognized for their excellence on the race course as well as in the classroom were Sudha Koganti (Jonesboro, Ga.) with a 3.95 GPA, Deena Shaw (Hillsdale, N.Y.) with a 3.88 GPA, Megan Baumgart (Monroeville, N.Y.) with a 3.54 GPA, Dana Birbiglia (Bellmore, N.Y.) with a 3.53 GPA, Bonnie Brinshean (Schenectedy, N.Y.) with a 3.53 GPA, and Kim and Michelle Milton each with a 3.41 GPA.

Recognized from the men's squad was Trevor O'Neil (Sauquoit, N.Y.) for his 3.46 GPA.

Both Loyola College and Marist College had nine student-athletes named to the team. Siena and Niagara University each had seven runners selected. Fairfield University and St. Peter's College both had five selected, while Iona College and Manhattan College each had four. Canisius College and Rider University rounded out the team with two athletes apiece.
