Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams Named NCAA All-Academic
March 22, 2007 The Siena College men's and women's cross country teams were both honored by the NCAA as National All-Academic Teams for carrying cumulative team GPA's over 3.0. It marks the sixth straight year the programs have been recognized. "It is a great honor to have both our men's and women's teams recognized," head coach Jim Bowles said. "We have high academic standards, and earning national recognition as an NCAA All-Academic squad is testament to the hard work our student-athletes commit to their studies." The men's team was one of just three programs in the MAAC honored (Loyola and Manhattan). The team had a 3.05 team GPA. The Siena women were one of four teams (Loyola, Manhattan, Iona) in the conference honored, posting a MAAC-best 3.36 team GPA. A total of 86 teams received Division I Men's All-Academic Cross Country Team honors for the 2006 season. A total of 145 teams received Division I Women's All-Academic Cross Country Team honors for the 2006 season. To be honored as an All-Academic Team, teams were required to compete in an NCAA regional meet and have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
