Saints Close Season with Strong Performance at ECAC Championships

Nov. 20, 2006

Siena's cross country team had its best performance of the season in its final meet of the year Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. Freshman Carly Calogero completed the 5K course in 19:32.4, placing 26th overall to lead the Siena women. Darren Legere finished the men's 8K course in 27:27.4, good enough for 44th place.

"This was a great way for us to end the season," head coach Jim Bowles said. "We really ran well and hopefully it will create some positive momentum as we build for next season."

Senior captain Meghan Davey placed 45th for the Siena women in 20:02.9. Keelin Wellott (54th), Samantha Grady (74th) and Ashley Dwyer (90th) completed the top-5 women's finishers.

For the men, Jed Turnbull (77th), Paul Notar (83rd), John Hart (88th) and Shane Leighton (101st) rounded out the top five.
