Siena Cross Country Competes at Regionals

Nov. 18, 2004

The Siena College women's cross country team finished 28th on a frigid November day at the NCAA Northeast Regional meet, held on Saturday in Bronx, N.Y. The men also claimed a 33rd place finish. The fields from both the men and women races consisted of the northeast's most elite runners.

Junior Kate Luker (New Hartford, N.Y.) led the Saints with a time of 23:36 in the 6k women's race. Joan Paul (Schenectady, N.Y.) took second for the team with a time of 23:56, as freshman Ashley Dwyer crossed the line third for Siena (24:58).

For the men, senior Pat Gafney (Syracuse, N.Y.) completed the 10k course first for the Saints in 35:19. Junior Andrew Knipfing finished second for the men in 35:23, and an impressive finish for freshman Adam Harding, as he was clocked in at 35:25 to take third for the Saints.

Both the men and women will be concluding their season as they return to the Bronx on Saturday. The men will be competing in the IC4A race and the women will be in the ECAC race.
