Women's Cross Country Runs To 11th Place Finish at Albany Invite

The Siena women's cross country team placed 11th out of a field of 21 on Saturday at the 38th Annual Albany Cross Country Invitational. The men also held on for a sixteenth place finish at their largest meet of the season with 29 teams present.

The women were led by senior Joan Paul (Schenectady N.Y.) with a time of 19:14 in the 5,000 meter race, followed by junior Katie Luker (New Hartford, N.Y.) in 19:34. Junior Kate Bubnack was third for the Saints in 20:02, followed closely by freshman Ashley Dwyer in a time of 20:09. Rounding out the Saints top-five was sophomore Meghan Davey crossing the line in 20:34.

On the men's side freshman John Hart was clocked at 26:54 for a 80th place finish in a crowded men's 8,000 meter race. Senior Pat Gafney (Syracuse, N.Y.) was second for Siena finishing in a time of 27:14. Joe Chonirere (27:47), followed by Colin Dwyer (28:22) and Andrew Knipfing (28:30), were the next three scorers for the Saints.

Both the men and women's teams will be in action on October 30 for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship in sunny Orlando, Florida.
