Legere Leads Cross Country at Central Connecticut Meet

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Darren Legere placed fourth individually in a 64-man field to help the Siena men to a fifth place showing at the Central Connecticut meet Saturday morning. Freshman Carly Calogero placed 12th out of 77 women as the Saints took seventh place on the women's side.

Host Central Connecticut State placed first in the meet with a team-low of 43, followed by the University of Connecticut (68) in second place. Rounding out the top-five finishing teams on the men's side was Holy Cross (70) and Wagner (84).

For the women, Connecticut took top billing with a score of 45, followed by the University of Rhode Island in second place with 80. Stony Brook took third place, while Holy Cross and Wagner College rounded out the top-five teams, respectively in fourth and fifth.

Central Connecticut's Ry Sanderson captured the individual title for the men, clocking in a time of 15:40, while Connecticut's Jillian Sullivan took first for the women with a time of 10:59.

The Saints travel downstate to Brooklyn on Friday for the 2006 MAAC Championships at 4 p.m.
