Results

The Siena cross country team opened its season Saturday in the four-team Binghamton Invitational. The Saints were defeated by the host Bearcats, as well as national powers Colgate and Columbia.

Darren Legere led Siena's charge for the men's team, crossing the 8K line in 27:34.5 in 13th place. He was nearly two minutes faster than teammate John Hart who was followed closely by Jed Turnbull, Shane Leighton, Anthony Conte and Paul Notar.

Freshman Carly Calogero completed the 5K women's course in 20:52 to top all Siena finishers. Senior captain Megan Davey was next along with Andrea Hollinger. Ashley Gardineer and Samantha Grady rounded out the Saints top-5.

The event was scored as three separate dual meets. On the men's side Binghamton beat Siena 19-44 and Columbia topped the Saints 15-50. On the women's side, Columbia topped the Saints 15-40, Binghamton held on for a 23-32 and Colgate won 16-43.

The Saints travel to Notre Dame next weekend to compete in the National Catholic Invitational.
