Everybody calls the Alumni Recreation Center "the ARC," which is an integral part of "the MAC." The ARC is home for the Siena women's basketball, and volleyball teams, as well as the place where 4,500 students, faculty, friars, alumni, and other fans can cheer for the Saints.

Since the 1974-75 basketball season, the ARC has been an unpleasant site for opposing teams. The men's basketball team, through the 1996-97 season, turned in an incredible 209-59 (.780) record, where in 20 of those 23 seasons never lost more than four games. On the ladies side, the Saints have been just as tough, turning in a 69-38 (.645) slate in the ARC over the last 10 years, including two consecutive 10 win seasons (1989-91). On the volleyball court, Siena has built a dynasty in the ARC, winning five straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships (1992-96) and turning in a winning record in 10 out of 14 years, including a 31 win season in 1986. The ARC is also the site for the MAAC Volleyball Championships.

Along with intercollegiate athletic events, the ARC has been the home of several major concerts featuring Toad the Wet Sprocket, the GooGoo Dolls, Natalie Merchant, Rusted Root, and Jeffrey Gaines to name a few.
