Dennis Bates Returns to Siena as Associate Athletic Director of Operations

Athletic Director John D'Argenio announced that Dennis Bates has been hired to the new position of associate athletic director of operations at Siena effective immediately. Bates served as assistant athletic director at the College from 2005 to 2008.

"I am extremely excited to return to Siena as the associate athletic director of operations," Bates said. "My return to Siena has been received with open arms. This new position will help bolster the internal operations of the athletic department by combining fiscal and facilities management under one area."

Bates obtained his bachelor's degree in finance from Manhattan College where he was a member of the Collegiate Events and Facility Management Association (CEFMA). He accepted his first position at Siena in 2004 as a financial analyst before accepting his position as assistant athletic director the following year.

"We are happy to have Dennis back in this critical position," Director of Athletics John D'Argenio said. "His presence will have an impact on our efficiency and he will be an asset to all the areas in the athletic department."

Bates will be responsible for managing Siena's five-person facilities staff, overseeing the business affairs arm of the athletic department, implementing department policy and procedure, managing the recreation and summer camps and working as the liaison with various office at the College. Bates will also serve as the primary sport administrator for Siena's men's and women's tennis, men's and women's cross country and swimming and diving teams.
