Scott Connell Named Assistant Athletic Trainer

July 3, 2008

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena athletic department recently named Scott Connell (Clifton Park, N.Y.) assistant athletic trainer. Connell will aid the Sports Medicine department in injury prevention, acute care, treatment, assessment, rehabilitation, and daily operations of the athletic training facility.

Connell will be responsible for assisting the head athletic trainer with the health care for Siena's 18 intercollegiate athletic teams and approximately 400 student-athletes.

Connell earned his bachelor's degree in athletic training from Ithaca College in May. At Ithaca, he worked with women's basketball, softball, wrestling, and gymnastics.

Among his duties as an athletic training student at Ithaca, Connell covered sprint football at Cornell University. He was responsible for on field assessment of knee, shoulder, ankle, and elbow injuries, suture removal, and cast molding and removal.

During the summers from 2003-2006, Connell interned for the Albany Conquest arena football team, helping with prevention, recognition, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

Connell is certified by the BOC and a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. He is certified in First Aid/CPR and AED for the Professional Rescuer by the American Red Cross.
